What is allergic rhinitis?

Commonly known as “hay fever,” allergic rhinitis is a chronic inflammatory condition of the nasal passages caused by allergens such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander and mold. 

How do you know if you have it?

Symptoms usually involve a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, nasal congestion and even a sore throat at times. 

Symptoms can be intermittent (less than 4 days/week) or persistent (more than 4 days/week)

After determining eligibility, you can sign up for the program within minutes through your MyBSWHealth account. 

2. Schedule an appointment

You’ll find an “all-in-one" dashboard where you can manage appointments and track your progress. We take the guesswork out of where to seek care and help you schedule that first virtual appointment. 

3. Track your progress

With a weekly tracker, weekly check-ins and more, you’re on a clear path from symptoms to solutions.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the cost of the program?

    There is no additional cost to participate in the Allergy Care program. However, appointments will be billed to insurance, so costs may vary depending on your insurance coverage.

  • Does my insurance cover the program?

    Any visits to a clinic for testing or diagnostics or any prescriptions will be billed to your insurance carrier. Check with your insurance provider if you have any questions about your coverage

  • Do I need a referral from a doctor to participate in the program?

    No referral is necessary.

  • How do I access and use the product?

    You can access Allergy Care through your  MyBSWHealth account.

  • Is the program fully virtual, in-person or a hybrid of both?

    The program is a virtual-first program, with some in-clinic visits needed for allergy testing or diagnostics.

  • What treatments are available beyond over-the-counter (OTC) medications?

    There are many prescription options available based on what is right for you, such as prescription steroids and prescription antihistamines.

  • What does allergy testing look like and when does it occur?

    Your care advocate may advise that you come into a clinic for allergy testing or laboratory diagnostics. They will then review the results to help determine a treatment plan, which may include prescription medication. 

  • Who can use this product?

    Anyone can use this product, unless you:

    • Are under 18 years of age
    • Are pregnant
    • Reside outside the state of Texas
    • Have had previous allergy testing history at an allergy center within the last 12 months
    • Are currently taking allergy injections
    • Are currently under the care of a Baylor Scott & White allergist within the past 12 months
  • I already see an allergist. Can I sign up?

    If you are seeing an allergist from outside the BSW system, you are eligible to sign up with us. If you are already seeing a BSW allergist, you are ineligible for the Allergy Care program.
