About the program

The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program at Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth is designed to cultivate independent, well-rounded pharmacists who deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care across diverse patient populations.

Residents benefit from a flexible learning environment tailored to individual interests and career goals. Whether you are preparing to become a clinical pharmacist, pursue a PGY-2 or fellowship, or serve as a preceptor and mentor. Our program provides the foundation to help you succeed.

Our pharmacy services use a decentralized model and are organized by service lines in the following areas:

  • Critical Care (MICU, SICU, CVICU)
  • Internal Medicine
  • Solid Organ Transplant
  • Oncology
  • NICU & Women’s Health

These teams are actively engaged in patient care and serve as immediate resources for medical and nursing staff regarding drug therapy and information

Additional services include:

  • Total Parental Nutrition Management
  • Drug Therapy Management
  • Formulary & Therapeutic Substitution
  • Patient Education

We are proud to be accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and currently accept three residents each year. The program is guided by our Residency Advisory Committee (RAC), which closely monitors resident progress and provides mentorship throughout the year.

Rotations

Schedules

Resident schedules are tailored to individual preferences, elective choices, career goals, and preceptor availability. The initial schedule is set during orientation and reviewed quarterly to align with each resident’s customized development plan. Our program fully complies with ASHP Accreditation Standards for PGY1 Pharmacy Residencies and ASHP duty-hour requirements.

We understand that interests may evolve throughout the year. That is why our program offers exceptional flexibility in elective rotations to support residents’ goals. To ensure availability of preferred rotations, residents are encouraged to select electives early. For those considering a PGY2 program, we make every effort to schedule top-choice rotations before December.

Rotational Learning Experiences

Core rotations are five weeks in length. During orientation, residents collaborate with the RPD to create a personalized development plan and rotation schedule based on career objectives, prior experience, and areas for growth. This plan is reviewed quarterly and adjusted as needed to accommodate evolving interests.

Our goal is to provide a well-rounded experience while allowing residents to deepen expertise in areas of special interest. This approach fosters clinical excellence and leadership skills, preparing residents for future challenges.
